An interactive introduction to climate change detection

We have detected human influence on climate, but to see the size of the most likely human and natural contributions, we go back to plotting observed temperatures against model-simulated human-induced warming in one direction and time in the other, but now with the "best fit" lines added.

Click on the graph and drag 90 degrees to the right. You can now see how the most likely combination of human and natural influences evolves over time.

Press this button to compare this most likely "attributable" warming with the original model-simulated warming.

Notice that the main impact of fitting to the observations is to reduce the size of the natural cooling spikes due to volcanoes.
