The ballistic delivery of high density, high-velocity micro-particles into excised human skin was discussed. The micro-particles used in this study were 1.78μm ±1.16, 2.24μm±1.12 and 3.03μm with an average density of 16.8g/cm3. It was indicated that the penetration depth of gold particles into the skin is a strong function of particle density, velocity and radius.
